We will hear a fascinating talk from German-born Dr. Florian Deltgen. Dr. Deltgen, a resident of Plymouth, NC, was born in Berlin, the capitol of Nazi Germany in 1940. His topic of discussion will be correlating he and his family’s experiences in Hitler’s Germany before, during and after World War II, including its devastating aftermath, to what he perceives is happening in the U.S. today. Dr. Detlgen mesmerized the Al Pam club last month and we are pleased that he will share experiences with us this week.
In his own words, Dr. Deltgen’s summarizes his presentation this way:
“I will speak about the dynamics before WWII that lead to Nazi totalitarianism in Germany and then about the dynamics after WWII that almost turned Germany into a Soviet Republic and resulted in the implementation of culture war as a non-bloody means to bring down capitalism and its society that is based on the concept of individual freedom. I will not only show the parallels in both periods of German history with what is happening in the US at present but also show that some of the key movers and shakers were/are actually the same.”
Dr. Deltgen is fluent in five languages and has a working knowledge in six more, including several non-European languages. He is the Chief Linguist at Apex Translations. He holds a Ph.D. from Cologne University, Germany, with a focus on comparative linguistics and anthropology. After several years of lecturing and research, he shifted to the business sector and has served in executive positions over the past 22 years for several international corporations.
